Heat Pump Water Heater Installation

Heat Pump Water Heater Installation

Installing a heat pump water heater is the best solution in all weather conditions.

Environmental protection and the development of technologies based on renewable energy are key in the field of climate control engineering today. Faced with these new energy challenges, Hou Water Heaters drew on its experience in the energy sector to maximize its efforts in this area.

Heat pump water heaters are a flawless example of efficient renewable energy solutions for domestic hot water. The heat pump, which is part of the water heater, absorbs renewable, clean and free calories from the environment and uses them as an energy resource to heat water.

Efficiently operating even at night or when it rains, heat pump water heaters are an environmentally friendly and cost-effective solution for producing hot water.

How does a heat pump water heater work?

Heat pump water heating systems: the water in a home water heater is heated by a built-in heat pump.

A heat pump water heater uses the heat pump principle by absorbing calories from the surrounding air and using this energy to provide water heating. The fan absorbs the ambient air, which in turn heats the refrigerant that is in the evaporator, converting it from liquid to gaseous state. The gas enters the compressor, where it is further heated. In the condenser the refrigerant transfers its heat to the water in the tank. The refrigerant flows down and changes from gaseous to liquid. The pressure of the liquid is further reduced by the expansion valve. The electric heater is only switched on when necessary in the event of insufficient heat pump operation.

Heat pump water heaters are available in two versions: as a monoblock, and consisting of several units. With the possibility of floor and wall installation, with tank volumes from 50 to 300 liters.

As an alternative to solar energy systems, these water heaters are used as a source of cyclic reproducible energy for heating any premises.

Operating principle: water in the tank is heated in a thermodynamic cycle with air sucked in by the circulating pump, which directs the heat flow in the opposite direction.

The refrigerant used in the system is Freon R134-A. By compressing and expanding the refrigerant, heat energy is absorbed from the ambient air and transferred with increasing temperature to the heater system.

This mechanism is called the reverse of the cooling principle in refrigerators. Electricity, in this case, is used only to operate the air intake fan and the compressor to circulate the refrigerant.

The water heater can either be installed in different ways:

Option 1: The water heater is installed in the under ridge space, and hot air will move to it naturally.

Option 2: the water heater can be installed in a prepared auxiliary room, and corrugated pipes are routed from the heater to the subceiling area.

By utilizing the excess heat, and producing hot water from it – water heater significantly increases the overall efficiency of heat use inside the home.

A water heater with a built-in air-to-water heat pump is also effective in the summer months as it allows work as an air conditioning system for the air in the house, while at the same time producing with strong savings on electricity – hot water for the needs of the house.

The water heater with a built-in air-to-water heat pump has an additional auxiliary water heater of the classical type for emergencies in addition to the main heating element with a heat pump.

Heat pump heaters have such advantages:

  • the possibility of combining with a solar collector
  • for higher warm water consumption cascade installation of several water heaters is possible
  • maximum heat storage thanks to thermal insulation
  • durable enamel coating
  • protective magnesium anode
  • recirculation and additional electric heater connection sockets
  • inspection opening for inspection and maintenance.
